The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco's most expensive models, but it has a wide array of features. It's designed as a side sleeper or a standalone crib, and is suitable from birth up to six months. It comes with a new mechanism to open and close the side panel and is simple to use even with one hand. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor with 11 different height levels as well as feet that retract to fit under any bed.
Our testers loved the easy access to the side panel, which can be lowered and raised by pressing the button. This was an enormous help during feeding times at night because it meant they could reach into and pick up their baby without waking them.
The side panel can be lifted by itself, too, but it's not recommended as this increases the chance of your baby falling out of the cot. The safety locking system guarantees that the side panel will only remain in place when it is properly attached to the mattress of the parent. Our test participants found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, although it does have quite lengthy instructions. It's heavier than other side-sleepers, however it's quite portable and can be moved from room room with ease. It's small enough to be able to fit in a travel bag when not in use, which is a bonus when you have to transport it. The only negative our testers have found is that the side panel did not move as much as other models. This made it a little harder to observe your baby from the bed.

The conversion kit for cots (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you need to start. It took us around an hour to put together and was reasonably straightforward. During our testing we observed the gliding motion of the next-to-me crib to be particularly beneficial in getting babies to sleep after feedings at night and midday. The drop-down side makes it easy to feed or soothe babies during the night. This was a huge selling point for our tired test mums.
